IMPLEMENTATION AND VALIDATION OF NUMERICAL MODELS

girante_2_modificato.png

The core activity of Fluid-A is the characterization of plants, systems, components, devices and prototypes through on-site measurements” using test benches which have been specifically designed and built. Subsequently, through the use of numerical simulations using commercial or open-source language-based calculation codes, it is possible to predict the performance of fluid machines and their individual components under different working conditions without having to build expensive prototypes. The use of CFD and lumped parameters models can predict the behaviour of these elements under different working conditions and with different system configurations, allowing the definition of theoretical operation limits. The more robust the mathematical model, the more reliable the results of the simulations.

Some examples:

  • Fluid dynamic design and optimization of turbomachine as pumps, compressors, and fans

  • Solid, fluid, gas, and multiphase domain analysis

  • Internal/external flow simulation

  • Use of specific models for porous surfaces

  • Analysis of separators, cyclones, and filtration systems

  • Non-Newtonian fluid model implementation for the food and oil&gas industries

  • Use of rotating computational domains in turbomachinery simulation

  • Optimization of aeraulic systems and agricultural equipment

  • Particles, droplets, and contaminant tracking

  • Thermo -fluid dynamics analysis and heat transfer computation (heat exchangers, thermal bridges, and heatsinks)

  • Turbomachinery performance losses analysis

IMPLEMENTATION OF HIGHLY

CUSTOMIZED  SOFTWARE

We crate human machine interfaces in labVIEW™ environment, both for test benches and production lines. We are National Instruments™ System Integrator  and we are well experienced in FPGA and Real Time programming. The software we provide is fully customized: every screen and every function inside it, is designed according to specific customer requests. Thanks to the integration of different graphic elements and 3D models, we want to improve as much as possible the experience of using our software, making it intuitive and easy to use. The architecture of our GUI integrates various tools for Industry 4.0, from interconnectivity of the systems to the vertical and horizontal exchange of information, and from the real time analysis to the cloud distribution.

DESIGN OF TEST BENCHES

FOR R&D DEPARTMENTS

The skills acquired by Fluid-A designers in the creation of test benches in the energy field ensure a quick, systematic approach to solving the problem. The first phase consists of identifying the type of test necessary, depending both upon the regulations in force and the level of accuracy required. This phase leads to the identification of the optimal test-rig architecture and the selection of sensors, actuators and the data acquisition system and remote control hardware. This is followed by the phases of defining the graphic interface, according to the specific needs of the client, and creating the monitoring software, data logging, and test bench checks. In these cases, customization may be highly detailed, constantly taking into consideration the need for precision, accuracy of the entire measurement chain and test repeatability.

ENERGY  EFFICIENCY AND SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION

energy_efficiency.JPG

Monitoring through data acquisition regarding the physical or operating indicators of energy systems, fluid systems and other important components is critical to their proper functioning, the definition of operational schedules and maintenance planning. Acquiring and above all managing the large quantity of system data is of great strategic importance. Fluid-A is also involved in the design, construction, installation and maintenance of systems for the monitoring and control of plants, components, devices and prototypes aimed at analyzing energy efficiency.
